Overview of Role
This position entails: managing and participating in a wide variety of UK and international human factors consultancy projects for clients particularly in the Oil and Gas sector but will also include similar work in other major hazard industries, mostly Nuclear; building client relationships including regulators, oil and gas upstream and downstream companies, global government bodies and industry agencies eg OPSI, Energy Institute, Petronas, etc.; and carrying out marketing and tendering activities to develop the Human Factors (HF) business in line with growth targets.

Key Responsibilities
Carry out HF projects - plan and manage own work and that of others to meet budget and technical requirements. Projects range from HF analyses in support of design, safety cases, audits and evaluations, through to complex HF research and development projects and delivery of HF training. 2. Marketing - identify and respond to opportunities, liaise with other business groups. prepare and deliver presentations and other marketing materials (eg brochures), contribute to HF business development strategy and plans. 3. Tendering - prepare tenders including scoping and costing HF projects or HF components of multidisciplinary projects. 4. Developing and maintaining client relationships (client facing role) - through informal networking, formal meetings and conferences and by monitoring developments in the HF field, identify wider (ie non-HF) opportunities and pass on to relevant groups within client organisation. Assist in the development of the HF Team oil and gas capability through mentoring team members, maintaining contacts with university groups & professional organisations, and assisting with recruitment activities as required.

Essential Qualifications
Relevant undergraduate academic qualification in appropriate field; preferably Engineering degree (Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical (C&I) or Psychology with appropriate HF in design; plus additional post-graduate degree, training, or experience in human factors relevant to the sector. Member of the Ergonomics Society, BPS or suitable engineering chartership (or eligible for membership). Clean UK drivers licence

Desirable Qualifications
Eligibility for UK SC or DV clearance is beneficial.

Experience Required.
To be successful in this role you will already have an understanding of a broad range of human factors principles and methods, and their role and application within various industries, particularly oil and gas. You will need well-developed project management, commercial and business development skills. Good technical report-writing ability and presentation skills are also essential. Knowledge of health and safety legislation and regulation would also be beneficial. Experience in several of the following technical areas is essential. System, equipment and interface design. Early human factors analysis & human factors integration. Human error and reliability assessment. Design of training and procedure systems. Incorporating human factors into safety cases and periodic safety reviews. Organisational issues including safety culture assessment and enhancement, and management of change. Root cause analysis, incident investigation, operational experience systems. Previous technical leadership role experience is beneficial.
